Caring for our World is Northern Irelands first training resource for people with a learning disability that focuses on climate action and living more sustainably. Co-designed by keep Northern Ireland Beautiful and Positive Futures, the resources are flexible and inclusive and can be adapted by staff to be delivered as full workshops or as one-to-one sessions for those with more complex needs. Currently, the Department for Agriculture, Environmental & Rural Affairs are funding the programme through the carrier bag levy, so all training and resources are free when accessed through Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
The training takes a staged approach, first providing full, accredited Carbon Literacy training for relevant staff to build knowledge, confidence and awareness around key climate issues. Once trained and certified, staff are then able to access the Caring for our World resources that they can deliver to people they support, empowering them to take meaningful climate action.

Delivery of the programme is based on two separate workshops:
Activities to help us understand:
•How the things we do can affect our world.
•The things that we all need to live well.
•How we can easily damage our world.
•How we can work together to make changes.
Activities to help us understand:
•Changes we can make in our own lives to care for the world.
•What a healthy world could be like.
•Making our own plan of action.
